Why does my space still have leftover hardware after equipment removal?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

Leftover mounting hardware, ductwork, or utility stubs that weren’t cleared during the original removal tend to surface during a new installation, when they’re discovered in the way of new connections. A follow up removal to clear that leftover material adds time and cost to a project that should have been a straightforward install.
Why can't old refrigeration equipment just be hauled away?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

Refrigerant inside the unit has to be recovered by an EPA certified technician before removal, releasing it isn’t just against the rules, it’s a regulatory violation with real penalties attached. A hauler without that certification either releases the refrigerant improperly or leaves it in a unit that gets crushed at a scrapyard, both of which create liability that traces back to whoever removed it.
Why is disconnecting equipment before removal dangerous?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

High

Live electrical, gas, or water lines carry real risk when disconnected without the right training: an energized wire can shock on contact, a gas line can leak invisibly until it finds an ignition source, and a water line can flood a space in minutes if it’s cut under pressure. This is high urgency because these hazards aren’t always obvious until something goes wrong.
Why do I need documentation for equipment I no longer own?
URGENCYLIKELY CAUSES

Low

Some jurisdictions and insurers require proof of compliant disposal, especially for regulated materials like refrigerants. Without it, you have no record showing the equipment was handled correctly if a question ever comes up later, whether from an inspector, an insurer, or a future property owner.
